Marble head depicting a noble woman of the late Roman Empire. The aesthetics, the type of workmanship and the subject lead back to the Byzantine period and the reign of Constantine I. The type of hairstyle certainly refers to the time described, hair gathered in a camauro embellished with a very elaborate crown of pearls. Naturalistic and decisive features make it a timeless masterpiece.
Uncertain period of realization and part of a private collection
